Our History

HOWARD HIRSCH (Co-founder) - In college, Howard scheduled most of his classes early in the day so that he could run down to Greenwich Village to work in various theaters including David Roth’s 4th St. Theatre, The Cherry Lane, and Circle in the Square under Jose Quintero. He also studied with Uta Hagen and Mike Nichols. Primarily acting in those days, he soon came to realize his real passion was to direct. And that’s what he did for more than fifty award-winning years on both stage and film.

After producing and directing numerous productions in the Greater Hartford area, Howard, with long-time business partner Ron Faibusch, continued his passion with the idea of opening a new theater company somewhere in the Farmington Valley.

In 2012 the Farmington Valley Stage Company was founded. In the beginning of the third season, Howard sadly passed away.

In January, 2015, Doreen Cohn and Kendra Jones joined with Ron to continue Howard's dream of providing quality theater to the Farmington Valley. What they all have in common is a vision and commitment to the arts.

Howard made it perfectly clear prior to his death, "The show must go on," and so it does.
